iTunes Rocks!

by liquidpooled on Apr.21, 2009, under Apple, iPhone, iTunes

Just kidding. iTunes is still on my list of most hated pieces of software due to the results such as the following:

iTunes Error (-4)

If only I could find a way to buy apps when my iPhone is dead and I don’t want to wait to download them. It would be better yet if my iPhone could make it through a full day of use without needing a recharge.

iTunes – Purchase of this item is not currently available

by liquidpooled on Dec.31, 2008, under Apple, iPhone, iTunes

iTunes seems to have all sorts of problems when I use it lately. I was reading TechCrunch earlier this evening and their post regarding the best Apps of 2008 (for the iTunes App Store). Dr. Awesome was looked like a good buy. Of course, upon attempting to purchase this supposedly exciting game, I am greeted with the following error message:

itunes_dg_sm

I say supposedly exciting, because in the end, the developer lost out on a sale. I was unable to purchase this product when I wanted to. What is the point of having an instant delivery platform such as the App Store, when I ultimately cannot purchase items? Along with all of the other issues the iTunes App Store seems to exhibit, this is one the most egregious, as I am unable to fulfill my needs for instant gratification (no matter how hard I try). Oh, and I’d like to be able to use my Shopping Cart for Apps at some point also.

First Post From My iPhone

by liquidpooled on Sep.15, 2008, under Apple, WordPress, iPhone

This is my first post from my iPhone. It might have taken a long time, but I finally got around to fixing a long standing error in my WordPress theme that was causing errors with the XML-RPC service (an invalid URL was being generated). There were also some issues related to the WP Super Cache plugin (an exclusion needed to be added for xmlrpc.php).

The iPhone App Store and the tale of the Shopping Cart

by liquidpooled on Sep.05, 2008, under Apple, iPhone, iTunes

After dealing with obscenely long backups and some recent iTunes store issues, I become more and more thankful with each passing day that I don’t actually use the mess known as MobileMe.

The latest issue?  The “Shopping Cart” functionality of iTunes.  Since the inception of the App Store, the “Shopping Cart” has not been enabled for purchases of iPhone/iPod Touch applications.  Why?  Who knows.  Someone at Apple has just been lazy I suppose.

It would appear that today that functionality has been enabled, but of course, it simply does not work.  I want to update my applications.  I want to see the improvements to Twitterific for myself (and not just read about them in a review on TUAW).  Apple does not want to see this happen.  I click the “Get Update” button in iTunes.  iTunes teases me, telling me the item has been added to my cart.  I rush to my cart to hit the “Buy Now” button, and…

Nothing.  My cart is empty.  I return to the App Store, clicking “Get Update” once more.  iTunes whines as it tells me the item is already in my cart.  Which cart?  Surely they don’t mean the empty cart that my iTunes client actually presents me with?

As with all things Apple, this will most likely be tweaked and fixed within a few hours, then all will be forgiven.  I will just have to sulk until then.
